Charity Carol Concert benefits Read Easy Ealing
Thanks to another sold-out performance on Saturday, 16 December, Ealing Choral Society’s annual carol concert has raised more than £7500 for Read Easy Ealing.
In the presence of the Worshipful the Mayor of Ealing and President of Ealing Choral Society, Hitesh Tailor, the choir, one of London’s very best, conducted by Peter Asprey, performed a variety of festive pieces to their usual very high standard to raise much-needed funds for Read Easy Ealing, which helps adults in the borough of Ealing learn to read.
The festive evening hosted a capacity audience at St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing who enjoyed singing and listening to much-loved carols and seasonal readings from Christopher Wickenden of Haven Funeral Services (sponsor of the concert programme), ECS Associate Stephen Pound, broadcaster and ECS Associate John Sergeant and a number of Read Easy Ealing representatives. The evening was rounded off with refreshments in the hall.
Read Easy Ealing is dedicated to changing lives by providing free, one-to-one reading tuition for local people. Their accessible, community-based, and individualised approach to helping adults learn to read matches trained volunteer coaches with non- or beginner readers, and is currently supporting 40 readers, with the ambition to grow further.
“Read Easy Ealing aims to help all adults in the Borough of Ealing to have the literacy skills they need to realise their potential and to live life to the full. We are delighted that Ealing Choral Society is helping us to achieve this vision through their support this Christmas” Catherine Jaquiss, Read Easy Ealing Team Leader.
