2021-22 Season ends on a high note
Ealing Choral Society wrapped up its 2021-22 season with a dazzling concert of music “fit for a queen” June 18. We were delighted to host a nearly sold-out audience at St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, to welcome our new Director of Music, Peter Asprey, making his Ealing Choral Society debut. The concert, a selection of music honoring two Queen Elizabeths, featured familiar royal anthems as well as more intimate madrigals popular during the Tudor period. The highlight of the evening was John Rutter’s thrilling Gloria accompanied by virtuoso brass ensemble Onyx Brass and the powerful St Barnabas organ played by Philip Scriven. A night of music indeed fit for a queen!
After a year beset by complications due to the coronavirus epidemic, Ealing Choral Society is grateful to have been able to perform four large-scale concerts, and are thankful for the support of our audience, associates, advertisers, friends and families for making our 2021-22 season a successful one. We are so looking forward to celebrating our 60th Anniversary season in 2022-23, and have a wonderful year of music ahead including a return to the Cadogan Hall in the spring, and a fizzy concert of opera music in June with young singers from Gunnersbury Catholic School. However, the most sparkling jewel in the crown of our Diamond Anniversary year will be our Celebration Concert in November, featuring the premiere of a new commission, Bird of Time, by our Vice President, acclaimed British composer Cecilia McDowall. We certainly hope you will join Ealing Choral Society to help us celebrate this very special anniversary season!
