Jonathan Williams to conduct UK premiere of Rameau’s Castor et Pollux
The Rameau Project and The Opera Company present an exciting new semi-staging of one of Rameau’s greatest operas in its original 1737 version never before heard in the UK, to be conducted by ECS Vice President Dr Jonathan Williams.
This UK premiere of Rameau’s Castor et Pollux is a new edition that Jonathan has been working on over the past two years. It’s beautiful, dramatic, sensual music and to perform it he has assembled a large orchestra and choir of top professional musicians to accompany a starry cast (which includes the double-prize winner in Handel Singing Competition, Hilary Cronin).
The performance is at 6pm on Sunday 15 May (until 8.30pm). You can find more information, some trailers, and buy tickets (£7.50 to £45) on the Music at Oxford website.
Ealing Choral Society congratulates Jonathan on this exciting achievement and wishes him and the production every success!
