ECS Online Carol Concert raises £3600 for Meadow House Hospice

Every year at Christmas time, Ealing Choral Society supports a local charity with the proceeds of our carol concert.

In December 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions we were not able to hold our usual live concert. Instead, however, we put together recordings from past carol concerts, together with seasonal readings recorded specially for the occasion, to create an online carol concert.

We have had a long and happy association with Meadow House Hospice over the years, and so we chose to support them this year with the proceeds from this concert.  One of the carols performed in this concert is the Butterfly Carol, which was commissioned by ECS Members and Associates, and composed by our Director of Music Jonathan Williams, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Hospice in 2017.

We are delighted to support Meadow House Hospice. They serve the population of the boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow, Meadow House Hospice, caring for people who have a life limiting or terminal condition. They support families and carers too and aim to show compassion, care, respect and dignity at all times.

This compilation was broadcast on our YouTube channel on the 12th December 2020 at 7pm.  The concert was available for viewing until 26th December 2020.

The concert raised £3618.83 (including gift aid) for Meadow House and has had over 1000 views on YouTube, including supporters from as far afield as France, Italy, Sweden, Czech Republic, Greece, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand!

The money raised will be used to enhance the environment for their patients, such as the upkeep of their award winning garden.  It will also be used to provide pieces of specialist furniture for their patients.

Thank you to all!
